How do I book an appointment at Strich und Nadel?
Once you’ve checked out our artists and have an idea of what you want and who you want to get tattooed by, just drop the artist an email with what your idea. It’s good to include as much detail as you can; placement, size, colour, a photo of the area and any specific details you think would help the artist get a clearer idea of what you’d like. An idea of budget and your available dates is also helpful.
If you aren’t too sure about the specifics of what you want, email or call the artist and just have a chat. It can be really helpful to benefit from their experience and get their opinion on your idea.
Do you do walk-ins?
No. Bookings are by appointment only so drop us an email to chat first. We do not have set opening times, so if you do rock up to the shop without chatting to someone first, there may be nobody there.
Sometimes we hold Flash Days, so keep an eye out on our Instagram and Facebook pages for these being announced.
How much will my tattoo cost?
This is pretty tricky to answer without knowing what you would like to get tattooed etc. Artists generally charge by the hour for custom pieces, however if you are picking a flash design, the artist may have given a one-off, special price for this.
How can I prepare for my appointment?
Having a good night’s sleep the night before your tattoo is crucial. Make sure you are well hydrated and have eaten a good meal before hand, you’re going to need lots of energy! Have a shower and carefully shave the area that you’re getting tattooed (although your artist can shave it for you if you prefer).
Bring some form of entertainment too, a distraction is always welcomed!
Can I drink alcohol before my appointment?
Drinking before the appointment is a big no! If you turn up drunk, we’ll send you home. Amongst other reasons, alcohol thins the blood, meaning you’ll bleed more easily throughout the appointment and this is not good. So save the drinks for after the appointment!
Are friends/family allowed to come along?
Bringing one or two friends is fine, but no children and not too many people. Of course, if you’re super nervous and want someone there for moral support, bring a buddy.
Getting tattooed is exciting, and we know you want to share it with everyone, but it may not be too much fun for your 12 friends as they watch you writhe around and squirm in pain!
What should I wear for the tattoo session?
Loose fitting clothes are best for your appointment. But it depends on the area you are getting tattooed. Chat to your artist beforehand if you are unsure.
Top tip – if you are getting your back tattooed, bring a zip up hoodie with you and put it on backwards to keep your front covered and cosy!
What is a Flash Day/Walk-in Day?
Flash Days are events help at the studio where the artists will provide a sheet of pre-drawn designs that you can pick from to get tattooed. They are either first come, first served, or book in advance. Give us a follow on social media to keep an eye out for these coming up.
